Case Study: Representing the World

Three movies/Tv shows that represent my life would have to be All American, Hustle, and Coach Carter. All three of these movies include representation. Representation is very important in Television, films and digital media can influence how we see others, and how we see ourselves.

To start off, All American's representations are very accurate because they live a similar life that I used to live Coming from Brooklyn, New York. As a kid that grew up there, football and basketball have been my whole life since I was a very little Kid. The same goes for the teenagers in All American. I think that the producer of the show made it very relatable to athletes like me. So, All American has many characters that play a very similar role to my life, meaning that I am very relatable to the way they live. In conclusion, representations are very important to media because it attracts most people who can relate to the story.

Just like All American, Hustle is a movie that was created mainly for Basketball Players. It Includes representations of a Athlete who was recruited for somewhere across the world and had to work hard to get where he wanted to get. Throughout ht movie, they show his whole training process and how nothing comes easy, which is very relatable to my life. Therefore, the representations in this movie are very accurate. I think that the individual characters are creating these representations.

Also, The main character Bo Cruz is very alike to me because he trains basketball everyday with a similar mindset that I do.

Lastly, Coach Carter is a film that was created to connect to A high school Basketball team. However one specific player stood out to me. His name is Timo cruz, his representations were, a high school athlete that always felt like quitting but never did, he always worked as hard as he could to make it to the highest level of basketball. These representations are very accurate to mine. I think that the producer created these representations to give the audience a character to be able to relate to. To add on, Timo Cruz is a character that Is very accurate to the way I used to live life. In conclusion, representations are very important because it can determine the audience of the film.
